An Air Quality Rating of “hazardous” may not seem like the perfect time for a family photoshoot, but the Black family and I made our way out to Yeouido Park nonetheless. We spent an hour together in the park mixing it up between letting the boys play and getting them where we needed them for the shoot.
I first worked with the Black family around two years ago when Gibson was about to turn one. We had a great session on the grounds of Yonsei University to celebrate. As you can imagine, I was excited to hear from Stephanie and John again saying that their second son, Miles, was also about to turn one. We decided to opt for somewhere a little more wide open this time, and Yeouido park was our final choice.
We got together in the early morning to avoid the crowds and that was a great choice. We were almost alone in the park! This is rare for Seoul, so it was great no to ever have to wait for other people to leave our scene.
It was mid-spring when we had this shoot. Although we didn’t get a lot of flowers this year, the trees still had that beautiful young green about them that is present until about May. We made great use of that. Coupled it with the soft light filtering through the hazy air, this made for some beautiful light for our session.
Stephanie had warned me that Gibson was going through a bit of a shy phase before we began our session, so I made sure to concentrate on bringing him out of his shell. It wasn’t long before we were friends again and making some great images. Miles is an extremely smiley little man with no reservations at all. So once we got Gibson on board, the session went really well.
Once the boys got closer to nap time, we headed over to the playground in the park to get some final shots while they exhausted themselves. Both of the boys love slides and climbing, so there was plenty of fodder for some candid images.
This was an exceptionally fun session, and we wrapped it on a final shot of the whole family sitting together. Thanks again to the Black family for a fantastic morning.
If you like what you see here, please reach out to book your own family session. In the meantime, enjoy the images!
[…] Then were another couple of amazing days out with the George and Black families. With the Georges, we made use of the beautiful scenery at Changdeokgung but with the Blacks, we used the spring greens at Yeouido Park. Both were wonderfully fun sessions and you can check out the rest of the images here and here. […]
