Welcome back for another family portrait session in Seoul! Today’s blog is all about the George family and their session from a couple of months back in April. Nature was just starting to wake up and we had a few patches of green to play with along with the gorgeous palace colours. With the slightly cool weather and cloudy sky, we were able to move around a lot and capture quite a bit of the palace’s beauty. Changdeokgung is great for palace architecture (there are so many styles inside) and if used at the ends of day, can still be quite free of crowds.
Quite often, I get asked what we do if the day is cloudy. This session is a great example of this. Of course, we miss the dramatic light that we can get from direct sun and that beautiful soft backlight close to sunset, but we gain a whole lot more. Clouds mean that the light is almost the same almost everywhere. That’s great for us because we don’t miss out on certain locations because the light won’t work at that time of day. This beautiful blanket of soft light gives us the ability to focus on just the backgrounds and your family. As you can see from the images in this session, there is a soft enveloping quality to the light and we can move around to several different locations, even in a short family portrait session like this.
One other great thing about cloudy days is that the temperatures are usually quite a bit lower. Especially in the summer months, this can be a real boon to our session when temperatures soar into the high 30s and the sun beats down in the city. Even in a spring session like this one, we’ll be running and jumping so much that the cool weather can feel quite warm after a while. Still remember to bring plenty of water!
Well, that’s enough from me! I hope you enjoy theĀ images. Please use the contact form above to enquire and book your own session. Until next time, thanks for visiting!
