Another middle-of-winter lifestyle shoot; another brave couple and another great day. Peter contacted me to let me know that his girlfriend Van would be visiting for a week and he was hoping to do a photoshoot while she was in Korea.
He is here in Korea doing a year with the US Millitary, and wanted to remember his time here with some traditional Korean backdrops and street scenes. We chose a few different locations, including Bukchon Hanok Village, Changdeokgung, and Cheonggyecheon. Peter wanted to use these locations but keep a crisp, produced feel to the images.
Starting on the steep hills of Bukchon Hanok Village, we worked in a mix of serious and playful shots while getting our fair share of onlookers and cheers. We worked our way down the hill and over to Changdeokgung next, where we juxtaposed their modern outfits against the palace. I love shooting in Changdeokgung as its tightly packed buildings make for great lines and its spacious grounds mean crowds are few and far between. We finally wound up our shoot in the dark at Cheonggyecheon with jackets on as the temperature had dropped a few degrees below freezing by this point.
Thanks for braving the cold and being such a great couple to work with, Peter and Van!
