Autumn in Korea is the most beautiful time of year. The colours in the trees are just gorgeous and the light is nothing short of stunning. We only get a couple of weeks of this weather, but this year I was lucky enough to work with some beautiful families during those couple of weeks. Jana and I had been talking about doing a session with her family for quite some time, and we finally managed to secure a time and get everyone together for one of the most stunning days of the season.
Although the trees hadn’t fully changed yet, we still had that lovely warm Autumn light to work with, and I couldn’t have asked for better kids to work with on the day! Sophie and Elisabeth were enthusiatic and happy for the entire session. They have a loving relationship, and that made it a pleasure to capture natural frames of the two of them having a great time in the palace together.
Working in the morning meant that our light would get progressively worse as the session went on, so we started out in the palace grounds with our formal shots, and broke it up with a little play time and leaf throwing before heading under the palace awnings as the sun climbed higher.
The girls were full of laughter and good cheer, so our only real challenge was avoiding the crowds of people. These two cuties with their huge smiles did attract their fair share of curious tourists though, and at one point we had to give in to two ladies dressed in Hanbok wanting a picture with the girls.
The only extreme Autumn colour we could find on the day was the leaves of the Ginko trees, and luckily for us, Seoul’s grannies had been in to collect all the nuts, so we didn’t have to deal with the smell! What a great way to wrap up such a fun session.
