Even on a cold day in Seoul, there’s plenty of fun to be had with your family photography session. The palaces still look amazing in winter, despite the leafless trees. With the crisp, clear air, winter light takes on a cool but beautiful tone. If you can brave the cold, there’s no reason not to have a family session in winter. It’s also a time when there are far fewer people in the palaces!
Even in the frigid air, young Lucas made sure we all stayed warm with his never-ending energy. The cold didn’t bother Lucas at all, and he made sure we didn’t have a chance to care either. We trekked around Gyeongbokgung, doing our best to keep up with him and stay in the sun as we moved. The pillars and awnings took on a gorgeous warmth (for winter!) in the late afternoon sun, giving us both the soft glow of the afternoon light and deep shadows as we moved out into the sun. We even got a blue sky. These can be quite elusive in Seoul!
Gabby and Hector were a pleasure to work with, and were open to everything I suggested. We were all very conscious that this was one of their first days with Lucas, but really, you wouldn’t have known it. He was as open and loving as they were, and it made for a beautiful session. Lucas not only played games with us, but also showed a tenderness in holding hands with mum and dad throughout the session. It really could not have gone better!
For today’s session, I have decided to share quite a few black and white images, as I feel that they are a great fit for the day we had. Please enjoy! Get in touch above to book your own family session in Seoul.
